Research Interest
- Ophthalmology
- Major areas: External ouclar disease(Including cornea and conjunctiva), Cataracts, Refractive surgery, Contact lenses and Lacrimal pathway diseases.
Research Summary
Ophthalmology is a clinical aspect including eye structure and function, diagnosis and treatment of various eye diseases. In this lab, external ocular eye(including cornea and conjunctiva), cataracts, refractive surgery, contact lenses are experimentally or clinically researched ocular diseases.
In addition, the experimental researches in vitro such as corneal cell (included epithelial cell, keratocyte) and drug toxicity related corneal cells, development of artificial cornea and lens, contact lens related with acanthameoba, and development of artificial lacrimal apparatus. In clinical study in vivo are being conducted regarding to perygial surgery, corneal transplant(keratoplasty), ocular surface reconstructive surgery, and lacrimal bypass surgery.
Currently, many papers are published in domestic and international professional journals every year, and focusing on ophthalmology education, especially the first English textbook on ophthalmology in Korea such as <Primary Eye Examination>. The domstic textbooks have been written and published as followed; <Understanding Eye Examination/Surgery>, <Current Clinical Aspect of Contact Lens>, <Cataract> and <Cornea> etc.
