Graduation Requirement for the Department of Convergence Medical Sciences
1. Graduation Examinations
- Students must pass the written examination for graduation, which consists of 2 elective courses, 4 subjects (for Master’s) or 5 subjects (for doctorate).
- To pass the examination, the student must score higher than 60 (for master’s) or 70 (for doctorate) from each subject.
2. Thesis Proposals and Progress Report
- Once a student completes two semesters, the student must submit his/her thesis proposal to the Thesis Defense Committee and receive the approval.
- A doctorate student must give open oral presentation of his/her thesis proposal during the relevant year.
- Upon the submission of thesis proposal, the student must give open oral presentations of annual progress report.
- If the thesis proposal and the progress report is denied by the Thesis Defense Committee, the student must submit another proposal within 6 months from the date of denial. If the proposal has been denied for 3 times, then the student is no longer able to continue with his curriculum.
3. Criteria for the Submission of Thesis
A student is eligible to submit his/her thesis once he/she satisfies the following criteria:
- The student is predicted to complete 24 credits (for master’s) or 36 credits (for doctorate)
- The student has passed the graduation examination
- Doctorate student must have written papers as a lead author that are published or confirmed for publication for the international journals (with the sum of SCIE IF of 5.0 or higher, or 2 journals of relevant field of research with upper 50% JCR). If the student is co-lead author, the IF scores and number of papers published shall be divided by the number of co-lead authors for the evaluation.
Important Note: the student must have published at least 1 Original article.
4. Thesis Defense Committee
- The advisor must recommend defense committee members at the time of submission of dissertation.
- Final defense committee shall be composed of 3 members for master’s defense and 5 members for doctoral defense.
- The members of defense committee should have published at least 2 papers on SCIE-level journals for the past 3 years. (amended, 2014.7.31.)
- The advisor must not be the chairperson of this committee.
5. Guidelines for Writing Thesis
Thesis must be written in English.
